Kiernan Healy, Neil Hutchins and Dennis Kennedy; initial officers included George Oberg, Larry Beck and Dave Fredrickson. In 1971, Second Foundation sponsored a dance in the Pythian Building for the first National Gay Pride week, marking Portland's first pride celebration.〔 That same year, the group began publishing a gay newspaper called ''The Fountain'', launched by Neil Hutchins. However, the community center closed six months later for financial reasons.〔 In 1973, Second Foundation joined other groups in Portland for the first Oregon Gay Political Caucus; other groups included the Eugene Gay People's Alliance, Klamath Gay Union, Portland Gay Men's Liberation, Portland Lesbian Mothers, Portland Gay Women's Liberation, Salem Area Gay Activists, and Southern Oregon College Gay Students Union.〔
